Change Ledger

Practical guide

Compare change orders with contingency and time fields

A contingency comparison is easier to discuss when its base percentage and approved amount are visible. The day fields provide a separate time-impact view rather than a schedule calculation.

Calculate the planning allowance

The entered contingency percentage is multiplied by the base contract. Approved net changes reduce the displayed remaining allowance; the worksheet leaves contract interpretation and funding procedures to the project process.

remaining allowance = base contract x contingency percent / 100 - max(approved net, 0)

Handle credits transparently

A negative approved amount reduces the approved net total. In the defaults, an 8% allowance on 48,000 is 3,840, leaving 2,440 after the 1,400 approved net change.

The ledger reports the 2,440 remaining planning allowance while the 640 pending item remains separate.

Use days as a conversation starter

Approved and pending day values are summed independently. Dates and days support review of the entered rows, but they do not determine notice, entitlement, critical path, or a committed completion date.
