Practical guide
Separate approved changes from pending exposure
Change Ledger is a point-in-time worksheet. Enter change rows in the order they were logged so approved value and pending exposure remain distinguishable.
Classify the row status
Approved rows change the running contract value. Pending rows show potential exposure without changing approved value. Rejected rows stay visible but affect neither total, and negative amounts represent credits or deletions.
approved contract = base contract + cumulative approved amount
Read the default ledger
The illustrative base is 48,000. Approved rows of +1,850 and -450 produce 1,400 of approved change and a 49,400 approved contract value; the 640 pending row raises exposure to 50,040.
The default status metric says Review pending changes because the pending row is visible but not included in approved value.
Keep row order meaningful
The engine processes rows in entry order and preserves their IDs, descriptions, statuses, amounts, days, and dates in the table. Keep the source record or approval workflow alongside this local planning view.
